How Much Is a Postcard Stamp in 2026? (Canada and the US)

How much is a postcard stamp? Short answer: in Canada, a postcard stamp costs $1.24 CAD if you buy a booklet or $1.44 CAD for a single stamp. In the US, a postcard stamp is $0.65 USD (since July 12, 2026).

That's the quick version. Below is what it costs to mail a postcard to every kind of destination, which stamp to grab, and how to skip the post office line entirely.

Canada Post doesn't have a separate postcard price. A postcard is "standard size mail," so it goes at the same rate as a regular letter up to 30 g. The US is different: USPS has a cheaper postcard rate, as long as your card is the right size (more on that below).

How much is a postcard stamp in Canada?

For a postcard mailed within Canada you need one domestic stamp:

  • $1.24 CAD per stamp when you buy a booklet or coil
  • $1.44 CAD for a single stamp

Look for stamps marked with a P instead of a number. These are Permanent stamps, and they're always worth the current domestic rate. Buy a booklet now and it still works after the next price increase. (Want the new 2026 designs? See our guide to Canada Post stamps.) Lowkey the best financial decision you'll make this year.

Mailing a postcard from Canada to the US

A US-bound postcard needs $1.75 CAD in postage. You can buy a US stamp, or stack domestic Permanent stamps until you reach the amount.

Mailing a postcard from Canada internationally

For anywhere outside Canada and the US, it's $3.65 CAD with an International stamp. Canada Post's delivery standard for international letter mail is 4 to 7 business days between major cities, and it can take longer from remote areas.

How much is a postcard stamp in the US?

A USPS postcard stamp costs $0.65 as of July 12, 2026 (it was $0.61). A regular Forever stamp is now $0.82, and it also works on a postcard. You'd just be overpaying by 17 cents.

The postcard rate only applies if your card is between 3.5 × 5 in and 4.25 × 6 in, and 0.007–0.016 in thick. Anything bigger is charged as a letter. Our postcard size guide covers the details.

Postage keeps climbing while mail volume falls. Our postcard statistics roundup has the numbers.

To send a postcard from the US to another country, use a Global Forever stamp. One stamp covers a postcard to any country, Canada included.

Where do I put the stamp?

Top right corner of the back of the card, above the address. Keep that corner clear when you design, or the stamp covers part of your art. Our guide on how to address a postcard has a diagram of the layout.

Or skip the stamp completely

If you don't have stamps at home (most people don't anymore), you can send a postcard online instead. With Mango Postal you design the card on your phone, and we print it, stamp it and mail it for you.

Each postcard is $4.99 CAD + $0.99 shipping to anywhere in Canada or the US. That includes printing on 100% cotton archival photo paper, postage and a free protective envelope. No trip to the post office.
