What happens to your photos and words
Privacy policy
Last updated:
The short version: we use your photos, message and addresses to print and mail your postcard. We keep them only for a short time after it's mailed, so that if anything goes wrong in the mail we can sort it out for you quickly. We never sell your information.
Who we are
Mango Postal is run by two friends who live on different sides of the North American continent. We both care deeply about privacy and believe your data belongs to you, and that shapes a lot of how we build Mango Postal.
What we collect
Sending a postcard doesn't require an account, so we only ask for what the order needs:
- The photos and text you add to your postcard
- Your recipient's name and mailing address
- Your email address, so we can confirm your order and contact you about it
- Your name and return address, if you choose to add them
- An order number and payment confirmation from our payment processor, Stripe
- How you found us, such as the website or campaign link that brought you here, which we attach to your order
We never see or store your full card number.
How we use it
We use your information to:
- Print your postcard and mail it to the address you gave us
- Take payment and keep required accounting records
- Send you order updates and answer your emails
- Reprint and resend a postcard that arrives damaged or gets lost in the mail
- Understand which pages and links bring people to Mango Postal
- Keep the site working and prevent fraud
We don't use your photos or messages for marketing, and we don't share them publicly unless you give us clear permission first.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach our servers.
Printing and mailing
Your postcard is mailed through Canada Post or USPS, so your recipient's name and address appear on the envelope and are handled by the postal service while it's in transit. Every postcard travels sealed inside an envelope, so your photos and message stay private until your recipient opens it.
Who we share it with
We share your recipient's name and address with Canada Post or USPS so they can deliver your postcard.
We will never sell your personal information. The little we do collect about you and your order is never shared with anyone who isn't needed to fulfil your order.
Cookies, browser storage and analytics
Mango Postal doesn't set its own cookies. Instead, your browser saves the postcard you're building on your device, so your work is still there if you leave to find an address. It stays on your device until you delete the draft or clear your browser data. For the length of your visit, your browser also remembers which website or link brought you here.
Stripe sets its own cookies during payment to keep it secure.
We look at which websites and links bring people to Mango Postal, so we know what's working. This doesn't use cookies or follow you across other websites.
How long we keep it
- Photos, postcard designs, recipient addresses and messages are kept only while we need them to mail your postcard and handle any reprint, then deleted. We aim to do this within 30 days after your postcard is mailed.
- Unpaid or abandoned postcards are deleted once they're no longer needed, and we aim to do this within 60 days.
- Order and payment records (what was ordered, what was paid, and when) are kept for as long as Canadian tax and accounting rules require.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. Significant changes will be made clear on this page.
